What it boils down to is that everything older than Windows 7, so basically Windows XP and Windows Vista, will no longer be able to enjoy the full features of Origin. Think about how little hope there is to get to the top which is probably what makes creators of Linux distributions and other OSes feel discouraged. All of the Linux distributions made add up to 2% of the desktop marketshare. It's hard to compete with the two and look at Linux or example. Maybe it could've been made for some desktop OS that Samsung or some other company had planned long ago but scrapped it because there was no way it could compete with Microsoft and Apple. It's very likely it was either fan made or it was designed for something else and not Longhorn. What it boils down to is that everything older than Windows 7, so basically Windows XP and Windows Vista, will no longer be able to enjoy the full features of Origin. It wouldn't make sense to use a competitor's sounds when it is so easy to produce your own. The original Longhorn project wasn't scrapped until 2005 so they had a lot of time to put it in and they would've by then if it was real.Īnother piece of evidence that these sounds weren't produced by Microsoft is that Samsung actually used a couple of those sounds as notification sounds in the Samsung Galaxy phones. People started using those sounds to make sounds in 2003 but it was way too early in development for anything to be revealed for the OS. Either the date was faked to make people believe it is real (and it is not hard at all to change the date of a file is the sound quality in 2003 like this?) or it was actually created at that time and reused by people to make these Longhorn themes that were very popular at the time. No one at Microsoft ever confirmed these sounds to be real and neither was there a reason to. There's no evidence to suggest that this sound was intended to be used with Longhorn. They are some pretty high quality sounds, so maybe? Were they a part of Longhorn Reloaded perhaps?Īlso, I've seen some speculation that they did originate from MS, which I can sort of believe. I discovered this while attempting to get the old library on windows 7. I came across the fake Longhorn sounds again, and got curious.
